Urban Trees, Highways & Utilities

Founded in 1992, GreenBlue Urban was set up to research and provide solutions for assisting trees in their battle to establish in urban spaces. GreenBlue Urban pride themselves on their industry-leading expertise, experience and proven track record of successful projects. One of their publications is the Urban Trees, Highways and Utilities guideline. The guideline outlines the importance of trees in urban areas and specifically provides guidance and information on how to incorporate trees specifically in an urban street context. The document stresses the importance of emphasizing quality rather than quantity when it comes to urban tree planting. The guide outlines the various ways in which challenges for tree planting in urban environments may be overcome such that tree canopy cover in urban areas can be maintained and increased.
